TBI celebrates notable industry leaders and professionals making an impact in telecom. Learn more about Woman of the Channel, Elyse Valle, from TBI.
Elyse was born and raised on the Northwest side of Chicago. After graduating high school, she started her professional career working in a pediatric intensive care unit as their secretary for almost five years. Elyse also worked for a reproductive genetics institute, assisting doctors who focus on infertility. During her time there, she met a woman who asked her to be their family's nanny. While only intending to spend a short time with this family and then go back into the medical field, she ended up spending over nine years with them as their nanny and house manager. During this time, she finished college with a degree in Medical Science. Wanting to keep up with technology, she continued to use things like Google and Word to create a blog on makeup, fashion and lifestyle. Elyse then started to work with makeup professionally, taking clients on the side to practice her craft.
After nine years of being a nanny, the children started school, and she decided it was time for a change. Elyse went back to her roots of being an admin and started working for a large concrete company that was based out of Paris but had an office in Chicago. She was the executive administrative assistant to six of their executives. Elyse left this role after becoming a mom, to take some time to spend with her child (now two and a half years old). Elyse then "landed in the cloud" as Geoff Shepstone told her the day she met him as TBI's Senior Administrative Assistant.
When Elyse is away from work, she loves to spend time with her friends and family, especially her sweet two-and-a-half-year-old, as they grow so fast. Elyse also likes to craft, try new restaurants, cook, and travel whenever she has time off.
What do you love about your job?
As an Administrative Assistant, I love how busy the job is. I love that I get to work with different departments, and not every day is the same.
What do you like about working at TBI?
I’ve been with TBI since October of last year and I would say aside from having the most amazing manager Ashley Kain, there is a process for everything. I love structure so that is something I noticed right away. Everyone is always willing to help, is very professional, and is nice.
