TBI celebrates notable industry leaders and professionals making an impact in telecom. Learn more about Woman of the Channel, Kathleen Goodwin, from Privafy.
Kathleen serves as Vice President of Marketing and Partnership Development at Privafy. She brings over 24 years of strategic and product marketing experience to her role, launching its partner program in 2019. She is responsible for channel recruitment and sales. Kathleen works closely with her partner community to enable, train, and advise them on how to serve their customers' cybersecurity needs. She's particularly passionate about the underserved security needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
As a channel advocate for Privafy, Kathleen believes SMEs are a missed opportunity hiding in the open for savvy partners. As SME security concerns and threats of future attacks continue to rise, she thinks channel partners are critical to success and very well-positioned to capture a large share of the $40 billion SME market. Driven by Privafy, they'll also receive high margins with Privafy's monthly recurring revenue (MRR) model—without investing in hardware, training, or specialized training for their security personnel.
What do you love about your job?
I work with a very diversified and fantastic group of creative, innovative, and highly experienced professionals who have charged themselves with building a better security solution to solve real-world customer problems. It's a stimulating workspace, and that is crucial for me. It can be challenging but never dull. I'm constantly learning and growing.
What do you like about working with TBI?
TBI has the best people from technical expertise to training to marketing. They are the channel's trusted advisors; whether it's Coffee with Corey or a deep dive from one of the tech gurus, they never disappoint; they are always technology agnostic and focused on delivering only the best performing technology solutions to their customers. And lots of fun to work with too!
"To love what you do and feel like it matters, how could anything be more fun?" – Katherine Graham, first American female Fortune 500 CEO
What is a key tidbit you give to others?
Possessing self-knowledge allows you to create self-esteem, and with these two characteristics, you'll live life with courage and determination.
Favorite vacation/getaway destination?
For me, it's the natural wonder of Maine. There's so much to explore and enjoy! The northeastern most part of the state is known for its rocky coastline and Acadia National Park's spruce islands. At Acadia, you can catch the first rays of sunlight visible to the entire US from the top of Cadillac Mountain. You can also visit Baxter State Park, home to the Appalachian Trail's endpoint. It's the way life should be, which also happens to be the state's slogan.
Do you have a goal outside of your career that you'd like to achieve?
Small businesses must succeed; the past year has been devastating for them; they are our economy's backbone. I've been an SMB business mentor at SCORE for a few years and love it. I get to hear all sorts of innovative ideas and meet fascinating people. My SCORE experience has instilled in me a deep sense of personal accomplishment. It's also allowed me to give back to my local community of entrepreneurs and small business owners while improving the local economy.
