6 Questions with Kathy Flick from Nextiva

TBI celebrates notable industry leaders and professionals making an impact in telecom. Learn more about Woman of the Channel, Kathy Flick, from Nextiva.

Kathy Flick brings more than 15 years of Channel experience to her role as Master Partner Director at Nextiva. She has been in her current role for almost 2 years and brings a positive, meaningful force to her partners and teammates.

Kathy is a former teacher and coach turned technology geek. She started out her sales journey as an Account Executive and in 6 months’ time moved into a management role. She was the first sales manager at Cbeyond and quickly grew her team into a powerhouse – which set company-wide sales records.

Her first foray into Channel was as a Channel Manager where she was consistently a top sales performer on the team. She quickly rose to VP of Business Development, then moved on to support Masters at a top VOIP company.

Kathy’s “hustle” along with her “survival of the fittest” mentality can be attributed to her mother’s Asian influence and growing up with 2 highly gifted sisters. Outside of work, Kathy’s passions are nonprofits focused on women and child welfare as well as animal rescue. She is one of the founders of Dogs of Telecom which raises money annually for the Humane Society.

Favorite Quote:

Oh, I have so many! This one is appropriate for today:

“Trust isn’t formed in meeting rooms or on conference calls; it's built when we’re able to connect on a personal level in-between and outside our normal work obligations.”  Simon Sinek

What is a key tidbit you give to others?

Be you- in every aspect of your career, just be you. And always recognize those that help you in big ways and in small ways.

Favorite vacation/getaway destination?

My backyard- it’s an area that I designed, created, and maintain from the hardscaping to the landscaping…I do it all myself! It’s far from perfect and certainly won’t be featured in any magazine but it’s perfect for me and my boys (my pups & fiancé).

Do you have a goal outside of your career that you'd like to achieve?

My goal is to get to a point where I can volunteer a majority of my time to non-profits focused on child welfare and animal rescues.
