TBI celebrates notable industry leaders and professionals making an impact in telecom. Learn more about Woman of the Channel, Mary Khoury, from Broad Sky Networks.
Mary is the marketing director at Broad Sky Networks, where she manages the rapidly growing brand and channel marketing programs for 4G and future 5G wireless networking solutions.
Her love for technology marketing started in the semiconductor industry, where she managed global marketing campaigns for EKC, now owned by Dupont. Mary next jumped at the opportunity to launch the brand for a then-new telecom start-up, MegaPath Networks, where she worked with direct and channel B2B sales teams. At MegaPath, her interest grew in channel marketing—working with sub-agents, resellers, and VARs to develop sales enablement and MDF programs to expand their telecom portfolio and revenues. Over the past 25 years, Mary has held marketing leadership roles in the telecom, semiconductor, and renewable energy space to educate and sell technology solutions for businesses.
What do you love about your job?
I love the variety, fast pace, and teams that I work with at Broad Sky. When I first started my role as marketing director for the company, someone said, "they (Broad Sky) work hard and play hard,"—and that is absolutely true. It's fun and rewarding to work with such a dedicated team of people. Another favorite part of my job is working with our regional channel sales managers and innovative channel partners to expand their wireless marketing initiatives.
As a technology marketer, I’m always fascinated to see how telecom, semiconductor, and renewable energy technologies converge with advancements in wireless connectivity and IoT. It’s an exciting time for technology.
What do you like about working with TBI?
The marketing team! They are fun, positive, and smart marketers focused on their channel and supplier partners' success. I look forward to learning more about the exciting programs they are planning for next year.
"We become what we think about." – Emily Nightingale.
What is a key tidbit you give to others?
My mantra is to "choose to have fun at work." One of my mentors always practiced that, and it completely shifted the work environment. The ability to have fun and be positive brings so much to the table—even when the workload is stressful, resources are constrained, or we're working through a strange pandemic!
Favorite vacation/getaway destination?
Anywhere there is a beautiful body of water and a great view.
Do you have a goal outside of your career that you'd like to achieve?
Two of my non-career goals are to learn to design and make furniture (well, maybe learn to build anything . . . ) and expand my garden to include herbs that I can distill into essential oils.
