6 Questions with Masergy's Daniela Ellis

TBI celebrates notable industry leaders and professionals making an impact in telecom. Learn more about Woman of the Channel, Daniela Ellis, from Masergy.

Daniela Ellis is Channel Manager at Masergy, covering partners in EMEA and rest of world. Having been with Masergy for 18 months, Daniela has been a part of the channel overhaul, as Masergy became completely partner focused. This has allowed room for developing new and creative ideas to drive partner activity and engagement, with a focus on working with and for the partner at the center of all decisions.

Daniela graduated from Brighton University with a 1st Class degree and has spent various years travelling the globe to places like New Zealand and South America. She also lived in Spain for a couple of years and hopes to return one day – but not before making a dent in the telecom channel world.

What do you love about your job? Daniela Ellis

Working in the Channel is a whirlwind, no two days are the same, no two meetings - no two partners! And for that reason I absolutely love my job. There's not a rule book that says you have to do something a certain way, it's down to me working with my partners and finding a strategy that's going to work for them. Of course, that can be a real challenge, but is it worth doing if it's easy all the time? For me, not really.

What do you like about working with TBI?

TBI is new to the UK market and that, in my opinion, gives us a really strong opportunity to build out the partnership from scratch. Toni Leopoldo, who's heading up TBI in the UK, has already done a great job at engaging with Masergy and building out the sub-agent roster. It's great to be working so closely with an expert in their field and I'm very excited to hit some impressive goals in the coming months.

What is a key tidbit you give to others?

Say no to nothing, take on everything and enjoy the journey you're on, while you're on it.

Favorite vacation/getaway destination?

I've done a fair bit of traveling over the past few years and one of my favorite places that I went to had to be Colombia; I love anything where I can soak up the culture and I like to spend time really living there - it's the best way to truly experience a new place. But who wouldn't say no to a holiday in the Maldives, right?!

Do you have a goal outside of your career that you'd like to achieve?

Property is a passion of mine, given that it was my first venture into working life so I'd love to build on my property portfolio so that one day I'll be able be on a Spanish beach, sipping sangria and reflecting on what an awesome life I've had.
