TBI and Verizon case study
A leading elevator company needed to keep its service mechanics working in the field highly productive and in constant touch with headquarters’ managers. The company wanted a mobility solution—reliable wireless connectivity with rugged smartphones that would allow mechanics to use specific industry applications at job sites. Management also needed a way to efficiently manage and secure these smartphones and apps to effectively protect sensitive information. Finally, the elevator company required support to deploy the mobility solution in a timely manner, without impacting the productivity of its mechanics.
TBI and a TBI partner conducted an analysis of the company’s operations, detailing the apps and features needed by the mechanics. Discovery questions included:
- What would you like to achieve in your business?
- What challenges would you like to solve?
- What features and capabilities are most important for your business and users?
- What would it mean for your business if we solved your major challenges?
After careful consideration, the company signed a deal that included the Verizon 4G LTE network, the largest wireless network in the U.S. The mobility solution includes more than 100 smartphones with Samsung Knox mobile device management (MDM) software for “locking down” any device in case it is lost or stolen. The IBM MaaS360 with Watson MDM solution provides additional management, control and security measures for the devices and apps. For a quick and seamless deployment, Source Inc., a Verizon Elite value-added reseller, delivered kitting and integration services to deploy the smartphones to users as well as connect the mobility solution with the company’s ERP system.
