Although TBI’s primary focus is delivering the best experience in the channel for our partners, we’re also dedicated to building on our strong culture. Health initiatives, teambuilding activities, community outreach – you name it! If it helps create a positive and collaborative work environment, TBI offers it. After all, it is statistically proven that a happy workforce leads to more productivity.
We’ve implemented new programs for our staff over the past quarter, and are pleased to say that all have been successful. From learning how to relieve stress at work to collecting food for the less fortunate, we were busy in Q1. Read on to learn more about everything that happened.
Canned Food Drive
From 1/9 to 2/9, we held our first ever canned food drive. All employees within the company were split into four teams and challenged to collect as much non-perishable food as possible. Over 2,000 cans were collected for the Self Help Closet & Food Pantry of Des Plaines.
We took a trip to the Windy City Fieldhouse on March 15 for a teambuilding event. 20 employees were selected at random to participate in collaborative activities.
Budgeting and Stress Relief Meditation Seminars
To help employees learn how to better budget for their future, our VP of Finance, Pete Shah, led a seminar on financial awareness. Topics included investing in a 401k and paying yourself first.
As part of our TBI Fit program, we brought in Unfold Yoga Wellness to lead a seminar on stress relief meditation on February 2. Focus was on how to let go of stress and refocus attention on work, and the health benefits of making time for relaxation during the workday.

“The mindful meditation lunch and learn was a great way for TBI employees to learn how to positively deal with everyday stressors, and a great intro to meditation for beginners,” said Melissa Rainey, Sales Administrative Assistant at TBI. “Offering these wellness seminars are a great way to show that TBI cares about their employee’s well-being and mental health.”
“As someone who uses meditation on a daily basis, I know how beneficial it can be,” said Jessie Perchonok, Proposal Specialist at TBI. “This is why I was so excited when I saw this event on the calendar and even more thrilled about how many people showed up! The event was a perfect glimpse of what meditation can do for the mind, body and soul.”
Executive Open Forum
Our VP, Mike Onystock, and our VP of Finance, Pete Shah, spent an entire lunch period fielding questions from our staff. Memorable words of advice included “just do it”, “live without fear”, and “get comfortable with being uncomfortable”.

ShapeUp is still going strong. For those who don’t know, ShapeUp is a challenge where TBI employees form teams and track their steps using fitness trackers. Winners are determined based off different goals, like which team reaches the destination first or has the most average steps per person.
Remember: TBI reimburses up to $100 on purchases of fitness trackers, so get one before the Q2 challenge starts. Prizes will include outdoor gear, gift cards, and fitness swag.
