TBI Rehires Four Employees: Why I Came Back to TBI

TBI Rehires Four Past Employees

TBI, named one of Chicago’s best places to work by Crain’s Chicago Business in 2018, is not only a great company to work for; it’s a great company to come back to.

In the past year, four different employees who had previously left TBI to pursue other opportunities have made the decision to return, not just for the career opportunities, but for the environment and people as well. We’ve highlighted these individuals to give you some insight about what prompted them to come back to TBI.

When did you leave TBI?

March 2018

Why did you leave TBI?

I left TBI because I did not feel confident in my previous role (Omni Center Sales), and it just was not for me. Considering TBI was my first “real job,” I did not realize that you could request to be moved internally. My confidence issue had nothing to do with my co-workers/management. I loved my manager, Terry Musich, and he has been a mentor for me since graduating. Even after I left, he would text me to see how I was and what I was up to. I loved TBI, but figured if I could not sell, I could not work here.

What was your position before leaving and what is it now?

My position was Account Manager; my position now is TBI Qualifications Specialists/Head of Orders.

Why did you return to TBI?

I returned to TBI because I loved working here, but I wasn’t successful at my job. Terry did all he could to make me feel confident and I never felt pressured. It was my decision to leave, but looking back, I was super immature and took for granted how special of a culture TBI has built. I got a text from Terry asking if I wanted to interview for a different position within TBI, and instantly I said“of course”. That’s how I am in the role I am in today. I hope Terry gets recognition for this because he has gone above and beyond to help my career, all while promoting the great environment that TBI provides.

What do you like about working at TBI?

I love the people at TBI. Everyone works hard and is genuinely NICE. I never feel bad asking a question to literally anyone who works for TBI. It feels like home; even in my new position, I am already building strong relationships.

Why did you leave TBI?

I felt I had a better growth potential elsewhere.

What was your position before leaving and what is it now?

Cable Specialist, and now I’m a Partner Relationship Specialist

Why did you return to TBI?

I was offered the Partner Relationship Specialist role, and I felt it was a good opportunity. It’s an exciting time to be in the telecommunications industry in general let alone with a company that has such a great culture.

What do you like about working at TBI?

The work environment is great. The people are nice, and there is an opportunity to be a part of something great and really make a difference. You feel appreciated. Also, they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and equipped to succeed.

Why did you leave TBI?

I was offered an opportunity to market and sell for the Indiana Pacers, and sports marketing was an area I was always interested in.

What was your position before leaving and what is it now?

I was an Account Manager for Comcast Business and returned as an Account Manager for Comcast Business, but I was recently promoted to a Support Specialist to better fit my skill set.

Why did you return to TBI?

I moved back home to help take care of my grandparents. I always enjoyed how much TBI cared for its employees as much as the company does.

What do you like about working at TBI?

The biggest reason why I returned and why I enjoy working for TBI overall, is the individual growth potential and career pathing opportunities. Four months after having returned to TBI, I was promoted to Support Specialist, which better suits my skill set. I enjoy the day-to-day challenges of working with the submission process to ensure our Omni Center Sales teams are receiving credit for the sales they input. It’s a fun challenge to see things on the support side as I get to deal with our partners, instead of the end-users I would deal with as an Account Manager. Another thing I enjoy about TBI is how well the employees are taken care of. Few places would be willing to rent a theater out just to show an appreciation for their employees.

When did you leave TBI?

April 2016

Why did you leave TBI?

At that time, I was offered a job with a growing company doing what I’ve always enjoyed, which is training and developing new reps in sales. While I didn’t want to leave TBI overall, I felt it was something I needed to do in order to challenge myself and try out a new industry. I don’t regret leaving because it was a great learning experience and I made a lot of new connections during that time, but after two years of being gone, I still loved this industry, and I knew that TBI was my home.

What was your position before leaving and what is it now?

I was a Sales Manager, and now I’m an Account Manager on the Spectrum team

Why did you return to TBI?

I never actually wanted to leave in the first place. I liked the fact that I grew a lot alongside of this company over the years. From the beginning of my time at TBI, I've always really enjoyed providing telecom solutions and continuously learning about the industry.

What do you like about working at TBI?

The team atmosphere, the location, the fact that virtually every promotion comes from within the company, and the time invested into the employees. I like that it’s a company with a single owner, as well as the versatility and flexibility of the solutions that we can offer our customers and partners. You can meet a wide range of other professionals across the country that all share a common goal.
