The WHY
Gone are the days of direct mail and door-to-door marketing. Companies can now utilize the primarily free tool of social media to increase brand awareness and convert prospects or upsell customers. Bottom line: Social Media for your business is FREE marketing and a FREE selling tool.
The HOW
In B2B business, we recommend focusing on two channels: LinkedIn and Twitter. You can certainly use Facebook if you want to. However, if you’re just now dipping your toes into social media or don’t necessarily have a large bandwidth, we recommend focusing on LinkedIn and Twitter first. Here are our top recommendations and why they’re important:
Utilize Your Channels to Prospect
On LinkedIn, there are many ways you can prospect. Check out our LinkedIn Tips & Tricks Guide for more extensive tips on Social Selling on LinkedIn.
The Power of a Mention and a Hashtag
It’s important to leverage publications, people and companies in your social media posts to get more eyes on your content and message. That is why you utilize the (@) symbol to mention these individuals, company pages and new publications when relevant. They will get an alert that they were mentioned and their audience/followers will also see it.
Hashtags are signified by a word or phrase preceded by a hash mark (#), used within a message to identify a keyword or topic of interest and facilitate a search for it. Whenever a user adds a hashtag to their post, it's able to be indexed by the social network and becomes searchable/discoverable by other users. Hashtags give your posts even more visibility and engagement.
